Produced from Pays d’Auge apples, this calvados was distilled in 1995, before being aged for 19 years in red oak casks. It stands out for having been aged and finished in ex Port casks for a year. This last step gives it an amber colour with copper reflections, a harmonious nose and a superbly rich palate.
Style: Rich. Nose: Clafouti. Prunes. Cashew nuts. Palate: Raisins. Finish: Long.
This unaged apple brandy made from the distillation of cider
obtained from the very best varieties of apples is deep-rooted in the tradition
For centuries, the farmers of the Domfront region have been producing a spirit in which a high proportion of pears was blended with cider apples. Pears seem to have become part of the cider brewing and distilling process in the 14th century. The particularities of Calvados from the Domfront region were recognized in 1942 by the attribution of a regulated appellation, “Calvadosdu Domfrontais”. Domfront is well known for its large number of pear orchards, and the Calvados made in this region has always possessed a unique character much appreciated by connoisseurs.
