The Normandin Mercier Vieille Fine Champagne Cognac is a VSOP quality blend created from eaux-de-vie from both Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne.  Many of the cognacs included in the blend have been aged for around 15 years, although some are younger, hence its VSOP classification.

It’s a lovely amber colour – a very fruity cognac with aromas and tastes of plum and almonds.  Presented in a traditional style cognac bottle with a label to match. Perfect to enjoy as a digestif after a good meal.

The cognac was also awarded a silver medal at the 2016 International Wine and Spirit Competition.

Cognac de Collection Jean Grosperrin – Artisanal Vintages - Jean Grosperrin worked as a cognac broker in the Cognac region. A broker in eaux-de-vie plays a very discreet yet strategic role between the producer and the buyer. His job is to evaluate the quality of the eaux-de-vie and to introduce interested parties to each other. His profession takes him to many cellars to estimate the value of different batches, among which there are sometimes some very old cognacs. Practically all vine growers distil their own harvest and they usually conserve, as former generations have done before them, some barrels of cognac in their cellars. These family treasures are very rarely up for sale and the transactions are very confidential. It is these cognacs, sometimes very atypical with strong personalities that Jean and his son Guilhem (since 2004) seek to obtain in all the appellations of Cognac. And digging into documents, family histories allows for description and anecdotes on each cognac which makes great reading. Tasting Notes are precise, to the point, short, not at all the excessive praise and lies. And their selections and vintages are astonishing. Success means, that supplies run out often.

Founded in 1880 by Honoré Fillioux, the company is now run by his great-grandson Pascal J. Fillioux. The vineyards lie in the heart of the Grande Champagne in the 'golden triangle': Verrières, Angeac-Champagne and Juillac-le-Coq. It is well known, this area yields the most delicate and finest Cognacs, and requires long oak barrel ageing to achieve maturity: the ageing is the key. Nothing will be done without Pascal's full control, from wines to labels and from soil to the bottle. It's a one-man-show. The men in the Fillioux dynasty have each borne a great love to their region and their soil. They have, from generation to generation, been blessed with an exceptional 'nose': that one, unique, talent that sets apart those who love greatness and those who are actually able to create it. The House of Jean Fillioux belongs to a select group of traditional family estates who have successfully defended their upper-quality niche over several decades by producing consistently authentic Cognacs that rest on century-old traditions, patience and love to become the masterpieces true connoisseurs appreciate.

With a history spanning back over 100 years, the house of J Normandin-Mercier has always produced eaux-de-vie from only two of the cognac growing regions; Grande and Petite Champagne. Creating their wares with a 'quality over quantity’ philosophy, the family Normandin has passed their chateau and business down through the generations.

The site of Chateau de la Peraudiere was carefully considered back in the 19th century and was a strategic location aimed directly at the production of superior quality cognac and ease of distribution. Close to the town of La Rochelle, not only is it close to the sea, but also to the rail networks. The town was the major exportation centre of cognac at that time. In addition, the climate in this area lent itself extremely favourable to the distillation and aging process of the cognacs that filled the chateau’s cellars.

J Normandin Mercier Cognac today is still firmly a family-run affair. Using the knowledge and expertise passed down to them over the decades, Edouard, Jean-Marie and Audrey Normandin continue to produce cognacs in exactly the same methods as their ancestors. With this firmly in mind, the estate of Cognac J Normandin-Mercier remains to this day a chateau which welcomes visitors and provides them with personal experience of today’s cognac making industry.
